Step 7 – Stakeholder Consultation

Why this Step?

This step entails sharing the outcome of community consultations (step 6) with key stakeholders e.g local government officials and service providers external to the community. Here community members, supported by facilitators, share their understanding of the nutrition situation in their area/villages, and look for opportunities within existing government programmes to address issues. This session is also important for key stakeholders, especially representatives of government departments of agriculture, rural development, water resources development, women’s affairs, health, and education, among others, to appreciate the integrated nature of the causes of under-nutrition and to see the need for working together to address them. This step ought to create awareness about the need and value of multi-sectoral collaboration.
