Step 2 – Participatory community and stakeholder mapping
Understand the physical layout and characteristics of the villages.
Learn about the social structures in the village and the differences among households by ethnicity and economic status. To learn about the different social groups in the village, what services they use/are accessible for them, and the different views local people might have versus each other.
Learn community perceptions about what crops are grown by villagers, how they are used, the natural resources and how they are used in the community.
Identify local and external institutions/organisations/groups/individuals who influence opinions in the community, how they relate to each other, and community perceptions about their role.
